Las estaciones de Manchester Piccadilly y UK, blanco de un “incidente de ciberseguridad”



El miércoles por la noche (25 de septiembre), el wifi de Manchester Piccadilly fue hackeado en un “incidente de ciberseguridad”. Se ha iniciado una investigación después de que el wifi de las 20 estaciones gestionadas por Network Rail fuera atacado.

Los usuarios que intentaban iniciar sesión en el servicio se encontraron con una página web que fue vista por el Noticias de la tarde de Manchester. La página, titulada “Te amamos, Europa”, contiene información sobre incidentes terroristas en el Reino Unido y en el extranjero y parece tener un mensaje antiislámico.

El incidente cibernético afectó a la estación Manchester Piccadilly, entre otras en todo el Reino Unido, y a 11 estaciones en Londres, incluidas Euston y Victoria.

Otras estaciones afectadas por el hackeo son Birmingham New Street, Glasgow Central, Leeds City, Liverpool Lime Street, Bristol Temple Meads, Edinburgh Waverley, Reading, Guildford.

El Noticias vespertinas de Manchester Entiende que la Policía de Transporte Británica también está investigando el asunto. Network Rail confirmó que los servicios de Wi-Fi fueron suspendidos mientras se realizan las investigaciones.

Un portavoz de Network Rail afirmó: “Actualmente estamos lidiando con un incidente de seguridad cibernética que afecta al wifi público en las estaciones administradas por Network Rail. Este servicio lo proporciona un tercero y ha sido suspendido mientras se lleva a cabo una investigación”.
